Main Scripture Reading: Rom 8:29-30; Eph 1:5, 11

The goal of predestination is expressed in the phrase, “to be conformed to the image of his Son.”
In Eph. 1:5, 11 this same purpose of foreordination is termed adoption. Adoption (huiothesía [G5206]) is the placing into sonship or legal heirship of those who are born of God. According to 1:5 the basis of this prior decree is “the good pleasure of His will.” The word rendered “good pleasure” is eudokía (G2107) and means pleasure or satisfaction, that which seems good.

Ps 139:13-16

One of the biggest traps of deception, is our tendency to try to achieve, earn and work for, something we already have received. When we feel we have failed His impossible standards we lose heart, give up and stop trying all-together. This is how satan lied to Eve: “You’ll be just like God” Gen 3:4 They were already made in God’s Image. He promised them something the already possessed, yet not realised.

We cannot earn sonship, trying to is evidence of an orphan mentality.

God intended family since the beginning. The way God’s family is constituted is though Faith. (Rom 4:5) Abraham is the father of faith. (Rom 3:30; 4:1-2; 4:16; Heb 6:15) Sarah, Rachel, and Rebekka all was barren, and God had to miraculously open their womb to be able to bare children. The Covenent blessing on Abraham since the beginning was towards a generational legacy of families. (Gen 12:1-3) None of their firstborn by blood received the covenant blessing. Abraham’s first born was Ismael. But Isaac born of Sarah received the promise. (Gen 17:18-21) Isaac’s firstborn was Essau, yet Jacob deceives his father and received the blessing. (Gen 27:20-29) Jacob’s first born was Rueben and did not received a blessing: instead “You will not excel” (Gen 48:3-4) Reuben’s immorality with his father’s concubine Bilhah (the mother of his brothers Dan and Naphtali) is recorded in Genesis 35:22. Joseph received the blessing born as the oldest son with Jacob’s wife Rachel. Yet later Benjamin received the tribal blessing. Joseph firstborn son was Manasseh yet Jacob crossed his hands and blessed Ephriam. (Gen 48:1-20)

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” (I John 3:1a).

For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, Romans 4:14

and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8:17

Sons and Heirs: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26

And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7

May we all come to the rich knowledge and full measure of faith in the truth, of the magnitude of His grace that He is working in us!
